Deeper meaning of "Coming Out" Part 3.

Hi, this is yet another of my blogs.

I guess you have been waiting to read from this side. Well, I am sure the wait will be worth it.

I am writing about 'Coming out' through talents and art. These reveal dimensions that are not easily perceived unless one interacts or becomes intimate with another. 

Talent is skill and the attitude to apply that skill. When one repeats certain activities, one gains perfection in doing that activity. This is what becomes art. 

Examples of the talents that  am going to write about include; writing, Performance,Craft making Mobilization and Community organisation.

Art in this case is a diverse range of human activities which end up creating things we see (visual), things we hear (auditory), things we think of (intellectual ideas) or  things we act out or dramatize (performances), things that depict objects  (artifacts), things through an author expresses their imagination, things in which one expresses notions or ideas (concepts), or technical skill, talents need to be appreciated for their utility, beauty,  intensity,  suspense, anger, memorable, thrilling, repeatable, relatable, educative, informative, empowering, affirming, motivating and part of one's life.

Writing

Writing can become a skill when one practices writing after it becomes ones's talent. when one becomes talented, they apply that. This makes them  visible and recognized. This enables one to find out find that they are  debutante writers or they will eventually become professional writers. Other people read about their materials and this is how they get be known. This is a form of coming out to self and others. 

Performance

Performance includes range of activities like: craft making; singing; acting; dancing; exhibition and organizing events. 

Craft making can become a skill when one practices it  which after it becomes ones's talent.  This makes them  visible and recognized. This enables one to find out find that they are  debutante craft makers or they will eventually become professionals. Other people come to admire the craft even buy them to hang them in their home or wear them as ornaments or adornments. This is a form of coming out to self and others. For instance people who make Masai shukas ,bracelet like the ones worn written on with different messages e.g. Kenya ,Uganda all these are made by people,ear rings, sandals and crafts. 

Singing

Singing can become a skill when one practices it , after which it becomes ones's talent.  This makes them  visible and recognized. This enables one to find out find that they are  debutante singers or they will eventually become professionals. Other people attend their gigs, concerts,buy their audio and video albums, send their music inform of audios to different social media platforms. This is a form of coming out to self and others.

Mobilization

Mobilizing specific communities to attend specific activities requires someone around whom other can relate with and trust. This can become a skill when one continues to meet these people ,engages with them and maintains rapport.This enables one to find out find that they are  debutante mobilizers . People  come to seek your services in order to reach specific communities,audiences or clients or fans. This is a form of coming out to self and others. For instance one gets hired as public relations, community mobilizers for census and community mobilizers during  health campaigns.

Community organisation

Community organizing is almost similar to mobilization. Community organisation requires one to  have mobilisation skills. Community organisation basically involves getting people together to design plans ,to address needs,challenges, interventions for issues that a rise as well meeting decision makers. Community organizer are supposed to facilitate training ,workshops,conferences;they are supposed to build social support organisations;expand membership of fan base;formulate or design organizing strategies;fund raise and grant writing. Community organistIion is a skill through which one can be hired or volunteer. That aspect endears one to others because people realized the skills that enhance quality life. This is a form of coming out and others. 

When  writing, performance, mobilization and community organisation are practiced continuously they become talents which in turn become art because one has perfected their execution.

There is a relationship between ones skills, talent, practice, art and coming out. This makes one visible , recognized, actualized, affirmed and popular. So talent and art are  a vehicle for coming out.

Deeper meaning of "Coming out" Part 2

This is my second  attempt  at writing a blog about "coming out. "  

In this blog, I am  exploring five words that are linked to "coming out." These words are: going out, reaching out, moving out, leisure and taking out a person.These words that can be linked to one's "coming out" rite of passage.

When one is coming out,they may choose places that are known as safe spaces.These safe spaces maybe shelters, resource centers, parks, re-creation centers, clubs, bars, restaurants and homes.

Going out;

These are the places they go to, here they meet people of the same sexuality, orientation, gender identity, gender expression and sexual characteristics. So, this is describing situations of people who may not identify themselves as heterosexual.This does not mean that heterosexuals do not have sexuality, orientation, gender identity, gender expression and sexual characteristics issues.

Reaching out;

This is when people who identify themselves with similar sexuality, orientation, gender identity, gender expression and sexual characteristics reach out to each other. When they do this they seek comfort, friendships, love, support, encouragement, empowering, assurance, affirmation, pleasure and sex debut (gay debutantes or heterosexual debutantes).

Moving out/in;

This is when people who are gay or heterosexual debutantes have decided to exclusively live together under the same roof. When they live under the same roof, they under go bonding, they choose practical roles and chores to at their homes to make comfy.

Leisure;

This is when people who have  actualized themselves seek out means to engage in re-creation activities. This may range from get together parties, picnics, travels to holiday destinations, clubbing, indoor games, reading clubs, cooking clubs, beer/wine tasting, charity works and community based activities.

Taking someone/self out;

This is a deliberate action of going to certain leisure destinations as part of affirming sexuality, orientation, gender identity, gender expression and sexual characteristics. In this situation people wish to go out individually or take with them colleagues, mates, friends, allies and family.

The above situations i.e going out, reaching out, moving out, leisure and taking out a person are prerequisites, conditions and media for coming out to be fully actualized.

Deeper meaning of coming out

There is a way we use words in our daily life. Such words like going out, reaching out, moving out, leisure, having fun, coming out... But what exactly do these words mean to our daily life?

In this blog I am attempting to define the word  "coming out. "

What's does coming out to you mean ?coming out to me means engaging in activities that enable you find out the fuller self and life.

When I was growing up, I was told that only perfumed lotions are meant only for females. But, now I realize grown up men use perfumed lotions.

This one of the reasons made me come up with this blog "Mawejje's exposee about life. "

Sometime we tend to know the definition of the words that we use in our day to day life.

Then we think, we really know their deeper meaning. Most of the time we force others to engage in activities or practices that fulfill the meaning of these words.

This is what informs norming.

Norming is forcing one's ideas, activities and practices on others not leaving any room for alternatives other than yours.

Men use perfumes and lotions but these same men when they were younger they were told these perfumes and lotions are for women.

Women can be engineers or motorbike riders. But, how many were told that only males become engineers or  motorbike riders?

How many of you, who are males we told that certain things are for females and vice versa?

So, when we use certain words we should be conversant with certain facts such as word meaning or context meaning. In this blog I have shown the extent of the meaning that one can draw out of the word "coming out!"
